Pope Benedict XVI's Prayer Intentions for February:
General Prayer Intention: Access to Water.  That all peoples may have
access to water and other resources needed for daily life.
Mission Intention: Health Workers.   That the Lord may sustain the efforts
of health workers assisting the sick and elderly in the world's poorest
regions.

                     DATES AND EVENTS

  • RCIA - Classes are on Thursday evenings from 7:00 PM to       
    8:30 PM in the Rose Center.  New members are always
    welcomed. It's not too late to join our class. Come join us at our   
    Rite of Sending on Saturday, February 26, at the 6:00 PM Mass.

  • Coupon Books: Burger King/Chili's/Papa Vino - LMC fundraiser
    coupon books will be available Feb. 2 through March 2 or until
    supplies are gone.  Students will be selling coupon books for $3.00
    each.  Need additional information, contact Mrs. Glendening at

  • Neocatechumenal Way - A series of talks have begun at St.
    Joseph SOUTH on Wednesdays and Sundays at 7:15 -           
    8:15 PM.  Come and listen  to a message of God's Love for you.  
    Discover Christ risen in your life, especially if you find yourself
    suffering and without answers, or if you know someone else who
    needs help.  These talks are for adults of all ages, married or single,
    teenagers and youth. Free babysitting provided.  For information,

  • Catholic Relief Service's Operation Rice Bowl - Your family is
    invited to pick up a Rice Bowl from the back of the Church and join
    millions of Catholics across the country in this simple yet powerful
    Lenten practice.

  • Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) - On the
    weekend of February 25 & 26, a collection for the CCHD will be
    taken up.  Founded by the bishops of the United States, for 40
    years CCHD has funded community groups that seek justice and
    create lasting change, fight poverty in America, and defend human
    dignity. Please use the envelope you received with your regular
    collection envelopes or write CCHD on your check. More on CCHD.

  • The Divine Reading of the Bible; Being Transformed by God's
    Word - Retreat will be facilitated by Fr. Ted Martin, and held
    beginning on March 3 at 9:00 AM and conclude following 9:30
    AM Mass on Mar. 4 at Transformations Spirituality Center in
    Kalamazoo.  Cost is $100 double occupancy; $125 single
    occupancy; $80 for commuters if registered by Feb. 10.  Contact

  • Bishop Bradley is making his deanery tour of celebrating Stations
    of the Cross during Lent at St John's Church, Benton Harbor, on
    March 30 at 7:00 PM.

ROSARY AND BIBLE STUDIES

  • Rosary prayed daily at St. Joseph Downtown at 7:30 AM.

  • Rosary prayed Wednesdays at 9:00 AM at St. Joseph South.

  • Sunday Morning Adult Bible Study - Meets Sunday mornings     
    at  9:00 AM in the Morlock Center.  Questions: 983-1343. We are
    currently reading, viewing videos and studying the Gospel
    according to Luke.

  • Scripture Study in the Catholic Tradition: Our next study is entitled
    The Passion and Resurrection Narratives of Jesus.   Monday
    evening session will begin on February 13, 2012. Tuesday
    afternoon session will begin on February 14, 2012. For more

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS

  • Knights of Columbus 4th Annual Chili Cook-Off  - February 18,
    Noon till 4:00 PM at the Rose Center. Put your chili up against
    the best or just come to the fundraiser to taste and vote for your
    favorite chili.   Contact Adam Kohler 269-369-8916.

  • Knights of Columbus ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT Pancakes, Eggs &
    Sausage Breakfast  on the second Sunday of every month,              
    8:30 AM - Noon at   the LMC High School cafeteria.  Next
    Breakfast - Feb. 19.  Pancakes: plain and blueberry; toppings
    include strawberries and whipped cream.  Something new at next
    breakfast: "Eggs to Order" Bar!

  • Knights of Columbus Lenten Pasta Dinner - Friday, Feb. 24,          
    5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at LMC Elementary School cafeteria on
    Washington Ave.  Take-outs are available.  All-You-Can-Eat          
    for $5 per person or $20 per family.

  • Lenten Lunches - Wednesdays during Lent starting on       
    February 29 at 11:30 AM in the Rose Center.  We will be  
    featuring Fr. Barron's Catholicism CD series.  There will be soups
    at every lunch.  All are welcome.  If you want to help with the food
    part of the luncheons, contact Tina Kohler 269-369-5257.

SOCIETY OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL

  • Our office has now re-opened and is ready to serve those in need
    by appointment.  Please call 982-3478 for assistance.   

  • Society of St. Vincent de Paul - Meetings are the first and third
    Mondays of each month at 7:00 PM in the Rose Center.  Next
    meeting - Feb. 20.  (Social time is at 6:00 PM with the Chaplet
    prayed at 6:40 PM.)    Offices are located at the west end of the  
    Rose Center and are open on Monday through Thursday from          
    8:30 AM - 11:30 AM.

CCD
  • CCD Classes will take place on Monday, Feb. 20, even though
    most schools are closed for President's Day.

  • Snow Cancellation - Please remember if Lakeshore, St. Joseph or
    LMC are closed for the day, we will not have class that evening.  If
    conditions grow worse over the course of the day, please check for
    an email or tune into WNDU TV for cancellation notices.

CONFIRMATION

  • Test #2 is rescheduled for Tuesday, February 14, from 6:00 PM to  
    7:30 at LMC High School cafeteria during CCD and Wednesday,
    Feb. 22 at 4:30 PM at the Rose Center. If either of these times do
    not work for you, please call Peggy Hanley to set up another time.

  • Test #3 has been rescheduled for Saturday, Mar. 24 at 11:00 AM  
    at the Rose Center.

ST. JOSEPH PARISH SCOUT TROOP 624

  • Meetings are weekly on Tues. at 7:00 PM  8:30 PM at Lake  
    Michigan Catholic Elementary School.

  • Boy Scouts assist at the St. Joseph Recycle Center on Saturday
    mornings from 9:30 AM to Noon.  Proceeds from the paper
    recycling help the Troop with all of their activities.

Merit Badge University on Saturday, February 25, all day  long
in Lombard, Illinois.
Annual Blue & Gold Dinner will be held on February 28.
